Tea Time

I did get two teapots put together yesterday.
I had made 4 bodies but two of them worked better as jars instead of teapots.
I felt the mouth opening was wider then I wanted to put spouts and handles on.
Those were carved and set aside to dry.
On these two I wanted to try an over the lid handle and I did.
For the first time I have done them they are okay.
I see room for improvement , of course, but might be tempted to try these again.
I made some small teacups- no handles to go with them.
BUT!---I have painted myself in a corner by using the cone 6 clay instead of our stoneware clay.
What corner you say?
Well, I would usually make these from our stoneware body, glaze them in our wood ash glazes and then fire to cone 10, reduction..
Now I am wondering how to glaze these in the glazes I used while working on the tiles...
Seems I need to think about this and give myself a deadline!
Shoot! I hate that thinking thing.
Meanwhile we have sold the 7 foot kiln with shelves.
The 2 10 cubic foot ones are still here.

    I have got a head full of jumbled thoughts as well!! Right there with ya. These teapots look really great and I love the cups. Isn't it a shame they can't just stay in that greenware state? I love my pots most when they are leather hard then it all goes to hell from there :) Congrats on getting some wheel work done, more than I can say.

    Don't you just love it when everything comes together! Your teapots are great. I prefer the over the top handle because it repeats the shape of the pot and functionally easier to use. I do greatly enjoy and appreciate your blog. You are fulfilling my dream of being a productive full time potter.

    Jumble up, jumble down, I was feeling pretty chipper till I heard next week we are getting more cold weather which means it'll be coming your way too, trying to get as much done as I can till I have to hunker down again. Glad you said those were teacups as I can never tell in photos the size of pottery.

    yep!!! i work on a grey body for my bowls or my recycled and the mixed clay that i dug up over the road it came out lurvley....just need to do some testing and see what ya like..HA word verify is reddest!!!
