Shake it off its only a date

Friday the 13th- the first one of the year.
I usually don't go in for the bad luck thing with the hope that bad luck does not seek me out.
I go in more for the stupid luck thing, which follows me all the time anyway, like a heat seeking missile.
I like to sort of bumbling my way through things as if my mind has not left me.
See being over 50 something has been a real eye, mind, opener for me.
I use to have a good memory and could multitask like an octopus!
Yes, I was that good.
But lately I do things like... walk out of the house with no thought about what I have left behind me, like jelly in the oven that should have been taken out 2 1/2 hours ago... burnt jelly--- buggers.
I have mourned the jelly loss and will just make another round, maybe tomorrow because tomorrow is not Friday or the 13th. And, it is mostly time and sugar right.
I can buy more sugar and what do I have if I don't have time....
Good thing one jar went right into household use.
We will savor that jar.

Now on to pots.
Mark has been working on this low bowl that would be a great center piece pot for a low coffee table, dinning room or that side table- entry way maybe.
I don't know if I will get him to make more, he is wondering about this as a repeatable shape...

I like them myself, but then again I am looking at how to glaze them.
I am working on a round of tiles.
Next week is waxing and glazing.
We just might get that January load through.
Now to go find some of that good luck you hear about.
Best of luck, good luck, lucky duck, walk like a duck, talk like a duck, if it walks like a duck it is a...
Someone needs to get out of the house!
Later!
M

Oh, I use my age as an excuse. John used to ask me where something was in the house and I'd just look at him and say, "I'm over 50, you expect me to remember that?" He's quit askin'. It works for me.

I read this morning - now I'm over 60 so don't quote me - but this year 2012 has has 3 Friday the 13's (most years only have 2) -- and they are each 13 weeks apart. That must negate that bad luck thing.

Dang on that jelly - and that's an amazingly lovely humongous bowl. I wouldn't want to glaze it. Can't wait to see it glazed though.

13- 13 weeks apart... need to keep that in mind.
Oh, yea- I don't have a mind to keep this in!
I think of 13 as lucky- usually since the boys birth date is the 13th

My mom was born on a Friday the 13th. I for one have had a great day, lunch with my friend Barbara and my lovely daughter called with that beautiful happiness in her voice once again, things are going well at school. Memory is quite another thing though, where did I put mine anyway? Haha!
LOVE that bowl, but glazing it? Oh my.....

My Mom turned 40 on Friday the 13th. Now that she's in her 70's she's happy she had that birthday, and all the others. I once heard or read "good luck and bad luck are like your left and right hand, you have to use them both."

I didn't even know it was friday the 13th. Ha. What a bummer about the jelly; what kind of jelly were you making?

I like the low bowl shape. It's easy to suppose that a bowl can't be animated by that sense of being inflated from within -- being wide and open at the top as they are. But, as illustrated by that simple shape, bowls certainly can carry that off. Well too.

My hubster's b-day was Friday, 13th. (After reading the comments, looks like he and Tracey's mom are both Jan. 13 babies.) It was a GREAT day! I surprised him with a chance to drive "high performance" cars at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey. He was in heaven.

I've never tried to make jelly... Don't think I'd have good luck with it, no matter the date!

new batch is cooling now- it is really easy- i just made it hard yesterday!
Thanks John on your comment on the bowl- I think they are a winner in shape and size... now to get them through the kilns.

hi meredith,
i'm with you as i walk around in a general fog. not to fret though, it's just that our brains are full. i'd like to say that they're full of important stuff but alas no es verdad. i can recall the lyrics of "muskrat love" but can't remember why i have a phone in my hand.
