Stop and smell the flowers

Oh you had better believe after the whirlwind of last week I am tired.
  Really.
I have been catching up on some "beauty" sleep this week.
I know they say you can not catch up but it has been good to just sleep the day away and get up at 6:30.
 Yes, that is am....
I have never been a late sleeper and have never taken to go to bed late and 3 nights of later than midnight makes for walking into walls.
What do they say about early to bed and early to rise?
I don't know that it makes me any wiser, but it does make me fell less than cranky.

These Peonies are more than divine they smell so good.
I keep looking for someone else to be in the kitchen wearing perfume they smell so loud.

The ants love these flowers and I did have to fight off a few to cut them and bring them in the house.
Those and a few Iris tucked into one of Mark's bottles makes a lovely bit of color and smell in the house.
I love fresh flowers and many times I don't cut them and bring them inside.
This year I thought why not?
Whynot???
Why not bring in fresh flowers and enjoy them and put some of my bottles and vases to work.

I was a little surprised at how well these tucked right into this small bottle.
It just goes to show you don't always need a big vase to place some joy in.

If I could set up a scratch and sniff here I would....

What are we doing in the studio?
Bowls- a lot of bowls going on.
Lamps bases- a lot of lamp bases going on.
We are planning the next two kiln loads one small and one large. We have some dinnerware to finish up for a very patient customer. We have lamps that need to be made for those folks who are looking for lamps.
And we are planning two events here.
A kiln opening the end of the month- come on out.
And- our 30th year happens in October- date to be firmly announced soon.
The weather here has been great and the flowers...as you can see divine.
So throw off the city life and make a trip to the rolling hills of the Piedmont and stop in.
Stop and smell some flowers.
Cheers,
M

I have always loved those flowers! But you are right about the ants. Unfortunatly, the flowers need the ants to open.

I love the smell of peonies. Mine aren't even open yet. It was a treat to get to smell yours last weekend. They look good with that iris in the jar.

Ours haven't bloomed yet. No time to sniff anyway. Big show next weekend. Throw, fire, glaze, fire, repeat, repeat.

So often I forget to cut flowers and bring them into the house also. I use the excuse that I want to share them with my neighbors.
The nice thing about a hand-made pottery vase is when it looks great with or without flowers, for people like us who forget.

I need to read more about these flowers they were a gift from my sister- thanks Leslie and all I did was to have Mark plant them for me and they are the flower that keeps on giving- beautiful and happy where they are.
We all need some flowers in the house!

I just saw this quote and thought of this blog, I had to share:
Early to rise and early to bed makes a male healthy, wealthy and dead. ~ James Thurber

Thirty years, how cool. Great flowers, I've never grown a peony but had dahlias at my last place that were super. I don't have any flowers at this place, might need to change that.
