A stand for your wheel

This is a stand which I used for my wheel for a number of years. It was convent to throw this stand in the pick up when we did demo's. Most places you go to demo have a sit down wheel and since we stand we liked to be able to take this with us.
The last time this was used we were at a show in Norfolk. We decided to leave the wheel stand with one of the workers there.
I hope it has been put to good use.
Mark made another one of these stands when he set up in Star- it was too tall for me and I ended up standing on a pallet to make pots!
I got some good looks from the folks that work there- me like a princess standing up on a pallet.
We just brought one of the Brent wheels back to the house since we had to return a borrowed wheel. The stand was too tall for Mark so he cut the legs down. Duh!---- I could have done that- then again he is taller then me.
With a little luck my wheel will be up soon.

If a prize were awarded for best looking wheel stand, I'd say this one's it. Nice handiwork, Mark.

I also like the splash pan in the previous post. See you guys at the pot luck.

Thanks Mike- being a handiman yourself- that is high praise.
See you then.

Definitely better engineered than mine :) I was reading the comments in your last post about squeaky wheels, and thought I would put in my two cents. I really love my shimpo whisper and it truly is quiet--no belts to squeak. Another nice thing is that it has adjustable legs, so you wouldn't have had to cut down the wheel stand :) (By the way, I am in no way paid by or work for shimpo--I just love my wheel.)

There is no problem with your set up- use what you have. Let me know how you like the switch from sitting to standing- I find it really hard to sit anymore.
When we bought the pacifica wheel they were on sell for 400.00- well I thought it was a good price, but you get what you pay for.
If after all the rebuilding we have some funds left a new wheel might be on the list. I would look at a shimpo again, might be a possibility.

I really like this stand you've come up with. What a great design!

I also have the Shimpo VL Wisper on my wishlist, and something like this would be great to get it up to standing height.

Thanks so much for your visit and comment on my blog!

This is an awesome wheel stand too - where is the drain hole for throwing water? Is it in the slash pan of your wheel and allowed to drain underneath one of the open triangular spaces? I'll have to go back and look at your other posts - I might answer my own questions.

I learned how to throw on a Brent, but I really like my Thomas Stuart wheel. It's very quiet - but initially chose it because it was a local Denver company where I live. Now that they've merged with Skutt, I'm guessing they sold the business so the wheels (and customer service) will be coming out of Oregon now.

I'm so sorry to hear about the fire in your studio - I hope that your rebuilding is speedy.
