3. I was fired from my first job.
I worked at Rose's ( five and dime)- they told me I was not Rose's material. On the long walk home I dreaded telling my parents what had happen.
When I told them and my father quickly said,"Well, thank god."
4. I drove a Mister Softee ice cream truck for two summers.
The first time Mark and I drove together.
The next year I had my own truck.
5. I am a shy person by nature, I know right? But really I can talk myself out of many things and I would much rather talk about you.
6. I had to learn how to be alone, coming from a big family it took me years to learn how to be alone with myself.
7. .....7...........7...........about that shoe size.........Well that is it you just get 6!

I would get a t-shirt that says, "1964: I am not Rose's material." Or whatever the date is. I'm guessing your father was right.
or whatever the date was.
Hollis- 1967:I am not Rose's material.
It was an eye opener to work that kind of retail. This store had a second floor office with a large window that the manager could sit and watch everyone. They told me time and time again not to spend time helping customers...then finally the call and walk up the stairs to be told... you are just not...good thing!
You were told NOT to help customers? What kind of crazy place was that?
Love your father's response!! Nice getting to know you better, and I agree~ let's get back to making pots ;)
Reading the last couple of posts has been fun. I am definitely planning to come to Seagrove and I would love to meet you in person. I am flying in to Asheville on March 6 and I will be cruising around on the 7th, 8th and 9th. Then I head up to Penland on the 10th. I can't wait!
