Hello sunshine!

 Hello, sunshine!

Mark is putting together the lamps that came out of the firing and I thought that he should shoot some pictures of them before they run away to live some where else.
It is not often that I hear him say he would keep a piece out of the kiln but this lamp has him yearning to keep it.

It is a lovely lamp and I hope that the folks that ordered it will be as happy as we were when it was unloaded from the kiln.

It needed some company so Mark brought in some friends to surround it with.
We were talking about how best to photograph a lamp.
If you do them with no shade and  no light blub they just look as if something is missing. All you can look at is that bare harp just sticking out and taking the life right out of the overall look of the lamp.
Then when you add a shade and light it all seems to come together.
I think we sell more lamps when they are plugged in and turned on.

I have to get back over to the paper work that comes with a new year and the end of the past year.
Think of me.....

How great that it turned out beautiful AND was an order!
it must be a day of "enlightenment" - Jeff is putting lamps together as well! We are having conversations about what type of switch is best for todays light bulbs. I have noticed that it is getting harder to find 3 way bulbs, it seems they are always sold out or only one or two on the shelves. I think we should start using dimmer switches, since the old bulbs are being phased out. Personally, I prefer them.
Shades are a whole other ball of wax, but I agree that they don't sell unless displayed with a shade and are lit.
I would be curious to hear your take on switches... what do you find most people prefer?

Yes to the lamps with a shade and some light! That shade is perfect for such an elegant lamp. Nice to see it has groupies too.

You have seen the light, ha! Sorry I couldn't resist :)
Beautiful, definitely need to photograph lamps with the glow from the shade, makes them all warm and homey looking!

I'm hoping to have a few lamps for an upcoming show, I'm thinking about how to set up, I can have electricity or a little bit better table spot. After reading this I'm thinking about heading towards the electricity.
Those are beautiful lamps, I only hope mine are one tenth as nice.

I have seen the light!
I love seeing handmade lamps in people's homes. It sure "brightens" up a room...
MH we will have to talk about wiring and where the lamp industry is, will be going with the CFLs...

Ugh, paperwork. And taxes. The bane of the self-employed. My sympathies. I'm SO behind this year...my receipts are a disaster.

Lovely lamp and assorted other pots!
