Jars

With spring comes new request for more jars. Jars are so very useful for so many things, but we are often asked to make them for family remains. It is always an honor to fill those request.

So, no matter what or who you place in a jar make the jar one of beauty.

Spring is shaping up with a few days of hot weather that reminds of quickly that summer is hot on our heels.

Enjoy those cool days,

M

February 2022

 It's February!
January was filled with much snow and difficult situations that we will just chalk up to Mercury.  One step forward 3 steps back. Mak and I are now working on our own parts of filling kilns. He is on the wheel while I am glazing tiles.
There is a lot of time to think while one is glazing.
Maybe too much time. These pasts few years have us all in a place where we are evaluating what is important to us. Silly us we had plans to travel. Now, who knows? We still find ways to get away it just doesn't include planes and rental cars, at least not right now. Maybe later in this year. One can hope.
We are still open by appointment only for now, mask required. You can reach us through email or call. If you call, leave a message and we will call you back as long as you don't want to sell us anything.
Stay safe and warm,
M

It snowed

We all need to post a winter picture just in case someone missed the winter event last weekend.

Meanwhile Mark is making mugs and I have many tiles drying under plastic.

Here we go 2022.

Ms. B

Mark is calling this past load his "pumpkin spice" load.

There was all kinds of nice, warm spice going on in that load.

But, that lamp came out fabulous.

Stay safe!

The before and after of firing Ms. B

Mark made, glazed, loaded and fired Ms. B

We will be putting these out in the store this week.

We are open this weekend for the Spring Celebration, gallery tours, of Seagrove Area Potters.

Wear a mask, we will have ours on as well.

As we use to tell people, "bring your checkbook and a chicken wing".

I guess now it would be check card. Haha

Cheers!

Does it just feel as if everything is still up in the air?

These keep me grounded.

Stay safe and warm,

January 2021

January 2021 and we are seeing a new year of changes.

We are in the place where we need to decide how to move forward. Continuing to make pottery and tiles with little business this past year has been a hardship. I use to go by the, if we made money the year before we will continue on this path. This year for the first time since we opened in 1982 we will take a loss. I know that many of us are in the same position of struggling through this.

We will continue to be open by appointment.

Call or email to let us know when you would like to come.

Be safe.

Mark has been busy on his wheel working on jars. Jars are so useful for so many things that it is hard to answer the question of what would you put in this. Where would one start with all the things that can be put in a jar, sugar, tea, coffee, paper clips, Q-tips, candy, kisses, hopes and dreams.

No matter how you fill your jar owning one that is lovely to look at is a plus.

I hope this fines you all well, safe and healthy.
We are open by appointment, wear a mask, we will be wearing one as well.
We are working out appointments so please call ahead and we will be happy to set that up.

What's different

What are you doing differently at this time?
How are you spending your time?
I feel as if everything takes 10 times longer to get done than it did before we were asked to stay at home.
You really have to think more about what you are doing, when and where.
Going out use to be so simple, grab your keys and go.
Need milk, need bread, run out to mail a package, you just did those things with no thought.
Now we are thinking it through, what time should you go in order to see the least amount of people, wear a mask, gloves(?), take along hand sanitizer, what do you do?
For one I have stopped carrying anything I don't need, I have scaled it down to what can fit in my pockets, ID, card, a little cash, I might even leave my cell at home, depends.
What choices have you had to make in order to live day to day.

We have added some plants in to the garden, chard and tomatoes are in and now after weeks of waiting we hope this week to see the seeds and plants we ordered weeks ago. I know we should have done his sooner but we usually just, grab our keys and go pick up seeds, plants and such at a local greenhouse or while we are out.
I am already planning a fall garden since I think we are going to be behind.
How about you, planning on putting in what you can grow?

We have a family joke that dates back to when my son was young and eating a chicken leg. He took a bite, swallowed and then stated that we should plant a few rows of these. Startled I look at him and asked how many? He say 3, we would need 3 rows of chickens.
Now, his girls' will call me to ask for chicken seeds.
We think it's funny, family humor will get you through.

Here I go, new day, new world problem.
Remember to think before you act, read, be informed and voting is a right.
Wash your hands, be kind, love people, we are going to need a lot of love.
