It snowed

We all need to post a winter picture just in case someone missed the winter event last weekend.

Meanwhile Mark is making mugs and I have many tiles drying under plastic.

Here we go 2022.

Mark's mug

There seem to be a lot of different mugs, teacups, beer steins going on.
Mark has always thought about calling himself MugTown.
Do you have a favorite?

customer choices

We have a small gallery here that we have sold our work through since 1982. In the past few years sales here have slowed down in numbers. We still have walk in traffic but you need to be more creative in the days of the internet.
We started the blog, then blogs went the way of FB, instagram, and probably things I have no clue of.

We have folks that contact us to fill a space in their house. It helps us greatly to get a picture of the space to be filled.
As soon as I saw the pictures I thought of these soft, satin, green/blue glaze that we have been using for a few years.
A few back and forth pictures and we shipped off the one to the right, which turned out to be a perfect choice.
It is one of our greatest pleasure seeing our work out there being used.

We have a long time customer that sent me a great picture of 4 of our pots last month.
When I see something such as this I think it is so perfect to see how they have come in and pulled our work into a look for their home.
I love the large wall hanging that works so well with those pots.

And here is that mug made for a friend's husband who has a large hand and needed a bigger mug handle.
Perfect fit.
Feels good to make things work.
Cheers,
M

Craft Beer and potter mugs

We have noticed that as the craft industry has grown so have our sales of our beer mug.
We keep this item on the must make list and try to keep a good stock of them in the store for sale.
We have been pleasantly surprised at the steady sales of this item.
For us it is nice to not wonder, but to just make sure it is on the list.
We had a request for a mug that would fit a large hand. Mark worked out the size that would be needed for the customer and we just shipped 2 off to see if we are on target.

We have a favorite brew pub in Asheboro that we go have a pour now and again, the beer is great. We brought in our own mugs to use and that makes it even better. We enjoy sitting there and watching the different mugs used by the locals. I need to get a picture of the how the behind the counter looks as you are sitting at the bar, nothing warms the heart better than to see clay being used.
If you are in need of a new beer mug let us know, we ship.

Best,
M

Let's just say

that life got a bit busy the last few weeks after we unloaded the kiln.
Work starts back tomorrow, I am sure that will spark something more to say.
Meanwhile enjoy the last of this sweet Sunday.

Quick shots

Here are some quick pictures of some of the pottery fresh out of the kiln. We are in full pack and ship mode right at the moment. While trying to use the post office site it seems it was out to lunch yesterday. That put us a little behind, but fortunately it is still early in the month. The week leading up to Christmas gets tight and mishaps are more likely to happen. Last year it was a late mailed package that we had to file a claim on. I had a feeling about that one as I packed it, knowing how close it was to Christmas day. If I can give any advice it is to get it in the mail now.
Speaking of which it is back to the shipping department I go.

Hi!

It seems that I had forgotten to post pictures of the firing. It looked very good from top to bottom.

We had some good results and plan to carry out some of the newer glazes.
Stop in the weather has been great.
