It snowed

We all need to post a winter picture just in case someone missed the winter event last weekend.

Meanwhile Mark is making mugs and I have many tiles drying under plastic.

Rabbits

I have always enjoyed the top rabbit and decided that I needed to add this other rabbit to my tiles.

He's fat and looks like he would enjoy a good love squeeze. I am now working on a tile that has 2 of the new rabbits looking at the moon from different sides of the tile.

So near and yet so far.

The new one makes me think of the distance of love and how we can not just jump in the car and see our loved ones right now.  I will post them soon.

Be safe, be well, wash your hands, wear the mask, do your part, vote.

Jars from Ms.B

Mark had a few nice Jars from the last firing.
I love these new mugs they look so soft.
There is a link over to shop online, or contact us for pickup by appointment, if picking up, we require you to wear a mask, we will do the same.
Be Safe!

The numbers in NC have been rising, cases top 64,000, this has lead us to make the decision that we will not open anytime soon.
We will not be participating in the July event in the area.
We don't feel it is safe for you or us to figure out how best to manage people in the store.
According to the guidelines we could only allow 2-3 people in at a time.
The times that we are living through are just unknown at this time.
We ask that you stay safe, be careful, wear a mask.
It's important that we all work together.

July 11 & 12

2020 A year to remember

It's time to make a trip to the Seagrove area, we hope you will stop in to see what we have been up to.
We will set up outside for checkout, making the store available for customers.
We ask that you wear a mask, distance from others, and give others plenty of space to shop.
Pottery and Tiles will be available.

Open by appointment & pickup

We know that life has not returned anywhere close to the old normal.
We are all trying to work within the guidelines set up to keep us and you safe.
In doing this we have reset our store for appointment shopping.

We added shelves to open up the floor area placing more items up for easy reach.
We are going to pull out larger items such as large vases.
If you are looking for a particular item and contact us ahead of time that will help.
If you want to go though the store we can let you do that with a set appointment.
We have hand sanitizer on site.
We will be wearing Mask, we will ask that you do the same.

If you call ahead we will reserve the time for you.
If you are traveling with family you can all come in, depending on the number in your party.
We do ask that you try to keep distance with us.

You can email us at:  contact@ whynotpottery.com
or call 336-873-9276
Leave a message.
Please allow us the time to be ready for you by contacting us before you come.

Pickup:
pickup has been very successful for prepaid items.
We ask that you set a time with us.
You don't have to get out of the car unless you would like to.
Pop the truck, open a door and we have your item wrapped and ready to go.

Do we miss the chat time, yes.
Do we miss the catching up on your life, yes.
Do we miss people, yes.
But we are not finished with the virus, numbers are up in NC.
We are doing our part.

A cup

For sipping, for wine, for libations, for water, for juice, for the bathroom, for the kitchen, for the table.

Small, but mighty.

Mark's mug

There seem to be a lot of different mugs, teacups, beer steins going on.
Mark has always thought about calling himself MugTown.
Do you have a favorite?

At least there are flowers

It is spring, May, we have been through the winter, April showers, a pandemic that keeps us all at bay. Finding time to fill the hours has become a challenge. We are baking more, back in our gardens more, creating more, trying to fill the hours.
Some days there are still not enough hours, other days the hours lingerer as the days get longer.
I find that most days go very quickly without enough time, as time has become a concentration of how to get the things that we use to take for granted, like just getting in the card to run an errand, go see a friend, pickup this or that.
How are you using your time?

Mark made these bud vases for 2 different kilns.
The white with blue design came from Ms. B, the stain will come out differently depending on what glaze it is used with and how it is fired.
I really like how quiet this pot is, just doing its job, holding some flowers.

This vase, bottle was fired in the electric kiln. Mark uses 2 different glazes, applying the first one, then adding a wax design, letting that dry and then coating with a top glaze.
It's simple, but not, takes some practice.

It's time for Mark to put these back in the cue.
Seems mugs are still needed. I imagine having a cup of tea, or coffee just gives us those minutes of comfort that we need.

So, friends, be safe, wash your hands, wear a mask.
Don't be stupid, this is not over as folks decided to go out, don't, just don't.
It's not over.
Stay put.

Listing pots

The moon came out last night with a sky full of stars, if you get some time in the evening go out and spend a few minutes standing under the universe, we are not alone.
Stand with the many folks working hard to get us all through this.
Be safe.

What day is it?

The most common question right now seems to be, "what day is it"?
As we all seem to loose track of the days that are usually marked by work, play, Dr,visits, coffee dates, dinner with friends, trash day. Thing that we usually say, "let me check and get back with you." Are now, how are days filled with your time?
We fill fortunate that we were able to pick back up in the garden. The only snag there has been plants and seeds are hard to come by. Things I ordered in March will not be here until late May, making those a possibility for the fall plantings since summer will pick up quickly for us in late May.
So what has changed, much has changed.
We do miss seeing our friends and family, but we also know that this is serious and staying put is the right thing to do.
So Mark is working on an online store.
Link can be found at  the right side of the page, on our website, through FB.
His plan is to keep plugging away adding things in when I don't have him hauling dirt around for me.
Be safe, there are foolish people out there who are not following simple rules.
We are citizens, who at times must band together for the greater good, this is one of those times.

There is so much going on

I am making this quick because I am heading to the kitchen.
It seems that cooking, even for two, takes up a good part of my time.
So what's cooking at your house?
If you have something good to share I am looking forward to that.
Hope you are well,
M

Ms. B 2020

We had planned a firing for the small kiln a few weeks back and with everything that has come up we pushed it aside.
Last week pots were glazed.
 Thursday Mark fired.
Here are some pictures.

Sold

We will continue to keep in touch as we move along.
Please stay safe, hold your family tight, from afar.
I am missing mine today.
