Now, more than ever, we need that time away from the noise around us, shake off the cobwebs any way you can.

Jars

 With spring comes new request for more jars. Jars are so very useful for so many things, but we are often asked to make them for family remains. It is always an honor to fill those request.

So, no matter what or who you place in a jar make the jar one of beauty.

Spring is shaping up with a few days of hot weather that reminds of quickly that summer is hot on our heels.

 I often hold my breath when I put these in the kiln, but after a few minutes I breath and walk away. It's all done until it's done.

I was very pleased with the results.

 Online shopping will be available with some studios, as well.

We have started unloading tiles and pottery from the kiln to restock our store.  A few of the tiles have already sold.  We will open for walk in in March, stay tune for hours and mask requirements. Hope to see you soon!

February 2022

 It's February!

January was filled with much snow and difficult situations that we will just chalk up to Mercury.  One step forward 3 steps back. Mak and I are now working on our own parts of filling kilns. He is on the wheel while I am glazing tiles.

There is a lot of time to think while one is glazing.

Maybe too much time. These pasts few years have us all in a place where we are evaluating what is important to us. Silly us we had plans to travel. Now, who knows? We still find ways to get away it just doesn't include planes and rental cars, at least not right now. Maybe later in this year. One can hope.

We are still open by appointment only for now, mask required. You can reach us through email or call. If you call, leave a message and we will call you back as long as you don't want to sell us anything.

It snowed

 We all need to post a winter picture just in case someone missed the winter event last weekend.

Meanwhile Mark is making mugs and I have many tiles drying under plastic. 

Here we go 2022. 

A pie recipe, Shoofly Pie from the Doubleday Cookbook

 Shoofly Pie
Preheat oven to 350

Filling:
2/3 cup of boiling water
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup of molasses (I use grandma's brand)
Crumb topping:
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/4th tsp. salt
3/4 cup of firmly packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup butter

I recipe of a good flaky Pie crust
Prepare or buy a ready-made 9"pie crust.
Make sure this is deep dish, you will need it.
Do not bake crust. ( Note- This is what it says but last pie could have used a 5-10 minute bake and cool)

Make crumb topping.
Sprinkle 1/3 in bottom of pie crust.
Make filling, I know looks weird as heck, but trust me it is fine, and pour directly on top of crumb mixture.
Cover with remaining crumb mixture and bake on center rack for 35-40 minutes. I will usually place this on a pizza or small cookie sheet in case of some overflow.

Cool and serve slightly warm, unless you are Mark who prefers this cold the next day with coffee.
This is a pie you either love or hate.
