The mix room

We are getting there- the mix room is slowly shaping up. The ceiling has one more piece to go. It has to be the hardest part of the room. We are using all kinds of extra "things" to help hold up the heavy OSB while we get it in place and Mark can get a screw or two in.

I have to tell you I came from a father who, besides the occasional paint job, called someone else to fix something - anything.

My life changed when I married the "jack of all trades." I am still amazed at the thought process. I have learned building, wiring, plumping, painting----- do I need to go on---- from Mark. I think someday I could build a house. I at least understand all the components now.

Although my main job is to hold my tongue right so Mark can cuss.
Building and working on these sorts of things brings out the sailor in him.
Once our daughter helped with plumbing under the house- her brother had left home for the Army at this point- and she came out from under the house furious and refused to go back. She told me- I did not know he knew those words! They laugh about it now.
So- helping us put up the ceiling is a "dead man"- where do they get these terms? A 2x4 with a board nailed to it, that I can slip (shove)it up under the OSB. Me and the deadman are getting the hang of this. I'll have to post a picture of the guy-
The walls are 1/2 done ceiling almost done.
Whew! Making pots seems like a dream job.

inside before walls- walls later---

Makes me tired just looking at all that building, having remodeled our house, I'll take new construction in a second. I learned about a plumb bob too! Good luck with all the work.

Yes- it makes me tired too!
Mark took the "deadguy" apart. I will miss him
I am so ready to be finished and Linda- my back is telling me so!

Looks like things are really shaping up nicely!

My father was handy and my father in law is super handy. My husband on the other hand is semi handy, so...sometimes we hire stuff out.

I would love to have construction knowledge - you're so lucky!

I don't remember being furious! I remember being shocked and only slightly appalled! *LOL*

Hope your mother gets better sooooon!

I noticed that you have power (light on in picture) They won't turn the power on, here, till the walls are covered here. Hmmph. But maybe your building has existing power?

we have the power back on for a few weeks- remember we are a rebuild not new construction.
MK- we, like you, are SO ready to be finished with hammers and nails.
