Oh, no snow!

Mark and I have been working back in the studio to get pots ready for the first gas firing.
Mark has been working on some vases.
This one is nice and fat with a presents to it.

I  turned plates yesterday and plan to get them trimmed up before the snow sets in or the possibilities of no electricity happens.
That is the problem with winter storms.
It is hard to get out to the studio, and if we lose electricity it shuts things down.
We had our electricity turned off a week or so back and I posted on how we just closed for the day and went off.
On the comments someone asked where our kick wheel was.
I had to laugh because it reminded me of Dot Auman.
There were so many times folks would stop in and while watching Dot make pots they would ask her where her kick wheel was.
She would look over and then look past them out into the parking lot.
They would turn and ask what she was looking for.
And she would say, "I am looking for your horse and buggy.
This always made me chuckle.

May all your ice and snow melt away soon and the spring flowers come your way.

gorgeous pot there, and our weather sucks rotten eggs, but it usually does :)
I think kickwheels are overrated, esp. as I get old and creaky, although I always think on a warm day it would be fun to make pots on the back porch with one....

Love this vase, let me put it in a sawdust firing!!! Yep, I went to the store to get some things and you would think the world was coming to an end today. The gas lines were two deep and I was 5th in line at the grocery with all checkouts opened.

I'm with Dot!!! hey, we'll take some of your snow up here in Alaskaland! We've been a little parched for snow -sounds like a yummy soup and hot cocoa kind of weekend coming down in the Lower 48 ?!

Rumor has it you're getting more snow this time than we are and I say that's good news. I do hope you don't get ice and I hope you're able to keep your electricity. I had plenty of snow here in December.
That Dot story is priceless. I can see her doing that now.
Stay warm.

The temp is down near 10 F. and the wind is howling out there. But Orion's out and so is a big full moon. No snow on Cape Cod right now. You guys can keep it in Carolina.
(And nice big vase, Meredith.)

beautiful vase... we got snow here. i like the story of about dot auman. i used to ask a friend who complained about his glasses all the time why he didn't get some contact lenses and he would just put his hand up the his glasses and say... nah, just give me the ol' spectacles... definitely a horse and buggy man
