Green, Green, Green and a surprise!

I took a quick walk up to check the mail box this morning and take in all the greens of spring.
I am always taken back at all the different colors of green as spring wakes up.
How does one capture a glaze that has all those different textures of green in it?
I guess you don't even though I would love to.

We are just about finished glazing for the small kiln and as soon as I get out there ( what am I doing here...) we will load her up.
Time to get back to figuring this kiln out.

These small bottles are a new clay body that Mark is trying. He wants to see how well it works in the small kiln with our glazes.
It is warmer with more iron in it.
We shall see.

And speaking of greens.
I knew that Dennis Allen was making a trip to Seagrove today and was happy to find out that he planned to stop in. We had a great chat and I was able to give him a tour of the shop and work buildings.
It is always fun to have someone you blog with come out to meet you in person.
And of course he is as nice as I thought he would be from reading his blog.

He was kind enough to bring me this sweet mug!
I just knew that this mug would be perfect for drinking out of and it is.
I love the color, a mottled green with this nice rich red clay body.
I am enjoying it right now.

and what is a visit without a mug shot of a couple of fast friends.
Cheers,
M

We are thinking about the same thing.....textured green. I am going to fire some oribe glazes and see how they turn out on my textured pots.
