Pots!
I was going to take some pictures of Mark while he was carving these lamps.
But-turn my back and they are done.
I walked to the house and when I came back they were finished.
Now, don't get the idea that he is so talented and fabulous that he whipped out the design in 5 minutes or less, it was me walking away to do something here at the house and not getting back to the studio in time.
There are things happening out there right behind my back.
I love the one on the right. (But don't tell the one on the left... I like him as well, really I do.)
Look at me all fat and full where I should be.
Today I had to take a trip to see my dentist.
It seems I lost a bit of a filling and I was sure it was going to be bad news. I had rehearsed over and over in my head what I was going to say if he pronounced for me another root canal.
I was going to say- pull it out, I don't want it.
Instead he came in and said," so you broke a tooth".
"No", I said, "I just lost a bit of filling".
Well let's just look and see.
( here is where I was ready for the worse.)
Looks like you lost a bit of filling and everything looks good.
Let me just seal it up for you.
He did.
As I left to pay he said, "No charge, Merry Christmas".
Yahoo- I smiled all the way home.
Honey pots..... |
just waiting for some good local honey to fill them up! |
It made me think of those random acts of kindness that we do for someone and how it feels to both give and receive.

Beautiful lamps and a beautiful story. Who expects to go to any medical professional and not walk out with a big bill. I love your dentist!
me too Lori!
But we have been together for 30 plus years.
What beautiful lamps and gorgeous honey pots! Love your dentist story.
You should take that dentist a honey pot:)
See you tomorrow
good golly those honey pots are the BEST!
oh nice one!!! when do you hear that from a dentist :))
gorgeous pots as always M
That man is fast with his carving, isn't he? I like what he told me when I was at the Celebration of Seagrove Potters. He said, "I don't make twins, but I do make relatives." That summed it up nicely for me.
that does sum it up.
He is quick. I will have to remember that line.
I know, about the dentist.
But as dentist go the guy we have been with for years is a good one.
The forms on the lamps are wonderful, they will be beauties fired. Bless your dentist! I dread going, not for the pain more for the bill! Last time I was there the receptionist actually rolled her eyes when I said I did not have insurance. Chalked it up to young and stupid! Merry Christmas!
My Dentist has the best people working for him- good ones the whole lot of them, I am lucky!
Merry Christmas right back at you!
Mark's work is divine - love the shapes and the carving! What a wonderful dentist story - rare and beautiful! Glad your tooth just needed a little touch-up. Merry Christmas!
They only time I got anything for free from a dentist was the time he replaced the wrong filling... but it meant another visit to have the correct one replaced and I really don't like the dentist.
Honey jars are going to be depleted a bit on Tuesday (c: .. At least one, maybe more ...
Well that WAS good news, all the way around. We're gonna have to talk about that dentist! I agree, the pots are loverly, & that's a great line of Mark's.
great pots! (The one on the right is super special... just like your dentist.) What a happy story!
I'm playing blog catch-up...those lamps are gorgeous but the honey pots!!!! Those are amazing!!!! Now I know one thing going on my gift giving list for next year.
Thanks Claudia!
