It has been so quiet here this past week, it feels that we are all under a shut down.
As we are making pots on the farm there are days that we don't see but maybe a car or two that travels our driveway to take a look and see at our work.
Maybe this is the calm before the storm.
The weather is calling for a whopping mess of rain for Monday and Tuesday.
I am sure that it will rain since we have lined up having a new roof put on the house.
In fact my sister has done the same thing and when 2 people in my family plan anything, known or unknown to one another, you can count on a weather event.
Family reunions can bring massive rain storms our way.
I have proof.
Mark is tossing out the production right and left in the studio and leaving me in the dust.
He has already made 40 mugs, 12 tumblers, and when I left just now he was turning out at least 30 juice, or wine after work, cups.
I am working on an order of batter bowls for a customer, then for me, it is sugar jars, creamers, small crocks.
We both have our list and we are sticking to them.
I know how hard it can be to make that list and then follow it. I tried so hard to move off the wheel and over to tiles yesterday but the logistics of the next kiln load won out.
I need to get my wheel pots made before I roll out more tiles.
See- work is being made!
Those small batter bowls are good for many things that are not batter. I use mine to make salad dressing, marinade, dips, gravy, ( Mark would say I am not telling the truth since I am not big on gravy, but if and when I make gravy this bowl works great..)
For dips I like to use the spouted area to place a spoon. It snugs up really well in that spot and does not try to fall out or under the dip. Useful.
Time to get back out there.
Honey pots are coming up next on my list.
Cheers,
M

Love the zig-zag design on those cups!
guess you might as well make sure the old roof is totally used up before you replace it.
I like the bowls.
Batter bowl just brings to mind fall and Seagrove.... Sigh

its so good to see a production run M...im winging it for a while since nearly everything has to be made b4 chrissy, lets get crankin!!
Batter Bowls!!!! I love batter bowls and only have 1 large one so I COULD see this as destiny or at least a great excuse to get another...or two. It rained the entire week we were getting our new roof this summer. Our roofers were great about tearing off a section and QUICKLY getting it covered up again. No leaks. Hope all goes as smoothly for you!
MArk is a machine in the studio. We use our small batter bowls all the time, it's best to have a couple.
the roof is going on and mark is a machine!
