February 2022

 It's February!
January was filled with much snow and difficult situations that we will just chalk up to Mercury.  One step forward 3 steps back. Mak and I are now working on our own parts of filling kilns. He is on the wheel while I am glazing tiles.
There is a lot of time to think while one is glazing.
Maybe too much time. These pasts few years have us all in a place where we are evaluating what is important to us. Silly us we had plans to travel. Now, who knows? We still find ways to get away it just doesn't include planes and rental cars, at least not right now. Maybe later in this year. One can hope.
We are still open by appointment only for now, mask required. You can reach us through email or call. If you call, leave a message and we will call you back as long as you don't want to sell us anything.
Stay safe and warm,
M

It snowed

We all need to post a winter picture just in case someone missed the winter event last weekend.

Meanwhile Mark is making mugs and I have many tiles drying under plastic.

Here we go 2022.

Ms. B

Mark is calling this past load his "pumpkin spice" load.

There was all kinds of nice, warm spice going on in that load.

But, that lamp came out fabulous.

Stay safe!

Ms. B 2020

We had planned a firing for the small kiln a few weeks back and with everything that has come up we pushed it aside.
Last week pots were glazed.
 Thursday Mark fired.
Here are some pictures.

Sold

We will continue to keep in touch as we move along.
Please stay safe, hold your family tight, from afar.
I am missing mine today.

Ms. B just between us

We unloaded the kiln under the late morning sunrise and the amazing moon.
It was a great load, no complaints from either of us.
I am out of here quick to finish up a load of tiles.
Cheers!

New raised beds and Ms. B

In July I was clearing out the raised bed that sat in front of the shop. The bed needed to be dug out and replaced. Mark talked me into trying a tall raised bed there. It was a great idea and rather than plant it with flowers we decided to make it a bed for lettuce, chard and collards.
So far it has worked really well and we have enjoyed eating our greens we are growing.
I think getting those beds up might be a great way to grow more next summer.
This week we are on to a small gas firing in Ms. B. Most of it is glazed we are just waiting for a bisque to cool that will fill in the gaps.
There are some really wonderful flattened bottles in this load. Mark has also been playing with some new brushes.
We are interested in seeing the results.
I hope many of you are enjoying pleasant weather. I know we are. A/C off and windows open.
Although last night I heard the call of a very loud bird on the pond.
I do love the crickets and the last of the summer bugs as they quiet down for the fall to come.

Find a little joy where you can.

It was time

It was time to get down to some dusting in the shop. We live on a long dirt road and if you know dirt roads you know they can be dusty. We have had a lot of rain the past week which can bring down the dust making it a good time to spruce things up.
Our sales shop, "gallery", is not really big, but even a small space needs to get a dusting now and again.
I don't even want to tell you about chasing out the spiders.
It looked nice, shiny, and clean enough to share.
I am back on tiles while Mark is throwing pots to help fill out the kiln.
Tomorrow I am back in the classroom my one day a week at the college. I did enjoy the summer off, it gave me more days of focus, time to put in a flower garden, and time to chase some butterflies.
Fall is coming, come out and see us!
Cheers!

Some Pots and Tiles

Here are a few of the tiles and some pots from the kiln.
All looks good.
The sheep on the bottom would not load any other way but sideways.
You will just have to turn your device on it's side.
It's been that kind of week.
Tomorrow will be my day to get hangers on everything.

That's all for now!

A butterfly, a flower, a mug

A Black Swallowtail butterfly

A Flower

And
A mug

I hope you have had a great week, things are pretty nice around here with cooler mornings that are perfect for blueberry picking.
Then there is that butterfly.
And, the mug, traveling off to a new home.
No complaints, just a week to try to be a bit more centered.
Best,

Quick shots

Here are some quick pictures of some of the pottery fresh out of the kiln. We are in full pack and ship mode right at the moment. While trying to use the post office site it seems it was out to lunch yesterday. That put us a little behind, but fortunately it is still early in the month. The week leading up to Christmas gets tight and mishaps are more likely to happen. Last year it was a late mailed package that we had to file a claim on. I had a feeling about that one as I packed it, knowing how close it was to Christmas day. If I can give any advice it is to get it in the mail now.
Speaking of which it is back to the shipping department I go.
