Get ready

 There are pots.
There are good ones and there are seconds.
We are "talking" about why.
Why, why, why.....

We know that there have been changes in the materials that we use for glazes. The buzz in the pottery community about loss has been out there for months. We are just now being hit with some of the difficulties that come from those changes.
New plan of action, testing, testing, testing, and not using some of the glazes that we have used for years until we figure this out.

Menahwile, we will take the good.
Hammer the bad and move on.
The pictures loaded backwards on me this time.
You can head to the bottom and work up, if you like.

Winter storm heading our way. Let us hope it is quick and short lived.
Stay warm!
Plan on coming to see us in the early spring.

It's always something and in this field, it seems like it is always left to the consumer to figure it out for themselves while losing loads of ware. Keep warm.

Looks like some shaving mug keepers in the photos. Hope there weren't too many losses in the firing.

They all look good from here! It must be frustrating to have things suddenly not working though. Hope you're staying warm. Would LOVE to visit in the spring. I'll have to see if we can't get over your way for some hiking and pottery!

Hey Dennis, and Laurie!
Yes, we have shaving mugs!

I have testing on my list of things to do also. You have a sure thing glaze combo, customers asking for more, and, surprise- it's not a sure thing anymore.

Whoa, what changes to glaze, etc? I remember 2 years ago getting a new type of talc because there was a switch at the supplier and the stuff was grey and changed the appearance of my glaze…but it fires the same. Whew! Luscious looking teapot hiding up there ;)

Feldspars, maybe you don't need these like we do in your glazes.
We're getting hit with large spots of crawling. Ugly!
Test, test, test.

Ugh, crawling, damn it! Used to be the worst and the best part of pottery for me, opening the kiln. When it's good its very good, when it's bad it sucks!

Some ugly egg! That crawling is bad in places....ugly bad.
